Eat all the things!!!

This week at my internship I photographed a feature on things to eat after midnight in Manhattan. For this feature, we focused exclusively on locally owned businesses.  Full disclosure, after I photographed these dishes I got to eat them all! So fun!

Mac and cheese grilled cheese with bacon, Varsity Donuts.

Otis, Opal and donut holes from Varsity Donuts.

Hot Wing Pie, AJ's Pizza. (Pizza with breaded chicken breast dipped in buffalo sauce, with mozzarella and blue cheese crumbles.)

Sesame Chicken (right), Beef and Broccoli, Lemon Pepper Chicken, and General Tso's Chicken, Hunam Express.

Sesame Chicken, Hunam Express.

The Big Country, Bob's Diner. (Chicken fried steak, two fried eggs, hash browns, a biscuit and white pepper sausage gravy.)

Photo A Day, 4/2/13

Alyssa Goodman looks in awe at farm-fresh eggs Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in the Angus and Betty McDougall photo lab at the University of Missouri, Columbia. The eggs were a gift from photojournalism professor David Rees, who happened to be leaving the building at the time. Upon hearing that Goodman had only ever eaten eggs purchased at a supermarket, Rees generously insisted Goodman take two of his six eggs, suggesting she would be astounded by the rich color and taste.

What makes an interesting picture?

I'm not convinced that any of these pictures are successful. Does that mean they are not worth sharing?

BONUS:
Here are two outtakes I am leaving on my blog to discuss in class. After that, they will probably be promptly deleted. But they lend themselves to a larger conversation about pictures, editing, and the never ending challenge as a photographer of editing your own work. I had questions about the pictures and where they fit into this set. I don't really thing they do. And I was just about to delete both of them, but in their own way I was sad to see each one go. So for now, I figured why not?
